Muffatees & More – Knitting in the 1830’s

Saturday, April 30th – 9 am to noon

The Workwoman’s Guide is an 1830s pattern book for cloth-ing and other house-hold items.  We will focus on the knit items that would have been worn during the first half of the 19th Century, from muffatees, shawls, scarves, bosom friend, cap, miser purse, to knee warmers.  Participants will have a chance to knit a muffatee using period appropriate needles and yarn.

Supplies to bring:  2 double-pointed needles at least 6” long, size 1 and 50 oz. skein finger-weight wool yarn in an earth-tone color.
Participants must know how to cast-on, knit and purl.

Cost: $5.00. Pre-registration and pay-ment is required by April 25th.
