Description
About 4 miles of unmarked mowed grass trails that decsend to the Kishwaukee River gorge. Trails circle two downhill ski slopes( blue to black difficulty)and a four acre park area. The river freezes in normal winters but holds many smallmouth bass and northern pike when flowing.
Directions
Take Interstate 39 exit at Baxter Road. Take Baxter Road west to your first right (Harrisville Road). Harrisville Road ends at Kishwaukee Glen Ski Area access road at 4250 Rotary Road New Milford.

Turtle Creek Flood Plain

Description
This 2.6 mile loop runs along turtle creek and circles back through the wooded floodplain. It`s an easy and relaxing hike that is unexpectedly serene despite brief stretches through residential backyards. The trail is flat and perfect for beginners since the 2.6 mile loop can be broken down into smaller circles.
Directions
From I-90, take the exit for Hwy 81 West/Milwaukee Road in Beloit, WI. Head west on Hwy 81/Milwaukee Road. Parking lot will be on the right. From I-43, continue straight on Milwaukee Road. Parking lot will be on the right.

Rock Cut State Park

Description
In the winter Rock Cut State Park has trails for snowshoeing. Snowshoers are asked to use other trails that have not been groomed for cross-country skiing.
Directions
From Rockford: Take the exit for East Riverside Boulevard. Go west on East Riverside to Perryville Road. Drive north on Perryville to Highway 173. Go east on Highway.173 to park entrance.

Hononegah Forest Preserve

Description
This preserve is along the Rock River with 2 miles of hiking trails.
Directions
Head towards Rockton off of I-90 on Rockton Road. Turn left on Dorr Road. Turn right onto Hononegah Road. Forest preserve is on the left.

Kishwaukee River Forest Preserve

Description
Hilly, wooded preserve split by the Kishwaukee River. Trail decends from Mulford Road down to the river on east side of river.
Directions
Exit from Bypass 20 on to Alpine Road in Southeast Rockford. Take Alpine Road south to Linden Road. Turn left (east) on Linden Road until you reach Mulford Road. Turn right (south) on Mulford Road until you reach to the Forest Preserve at Blackhawk Road. Enter straight into western half of preserve or turn left, cross river, turn right again (south) on to Mulford Road. 1/4 mile to entrance to east half of preserve.

Seth Atwood Park

Description
Kishwaukee River divides this park in half that is connected by foot bridge across river. Scenic river area. Hilly wooded area with many inter-connected trails and roads in park.
Directions
Take 251 south from Rockford to New Milford. Turn east on New Milford School Road for about 1/2 mile to the north park entrance or turn east on Rydberg Road to the west park entrance.
