Funderburg North Conservation Area, 122.68 acres in size, straddles the Piscasaw Creek northeast of Belvidere. All but a small sliver lies within the floodplain of the Piscasaw Creek. It functions as a permanent wetland allowing the creek to spread its energy over the landscape and help with flooding issues downstream.
A nesting pair of Bald Eagles have utilized this site to rear their young for several years. An observation area is planned that will allow the public to observe the eagles without disturbing them. Federal laws are in place that must be strictly followed. The links below explain these laws, restrictions, and guidelines.
